Sydney has a bunch of money and big transport projects heading it’s way. This post is about how big spending and big projects need to be part of a grander urban transport strategy and need to maximise their value. The focus must be on improving connectivity enabling positive social and economic change. I don’t think the two big projects (Westconnex Motorway and the ‘SRT’ suburban metro) have been well thought through. Certainly, their aims are at best confused, if not purely hidden and opaque.
